BIAS
A four-year project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation program that will empower the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Resources Management (HRM) communities by addressing and mitigating algorithmic biases. The project focuses on identifying and mitigating biases embedded in AI tools used for recruitment and employee management. Its objectives include developing tools to reduce discrimination in AI-driven decisions, through the “Debiaser” platform, fostering stakeholder engagement, increasing awareness and promoting fairness and equality in employment practices. The initiative seeks to improve HRM processes and influence future Case Based Reasoning (CBR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) research by incorporating underrepresented groups in its development. A public notice for data subjects who may be involved in this research has been published on the BIAS website, available in English and Turkish: https://www.biasproject.eu/hrm-research-data/. Additionally, to ensure that the data collection process complies with Turkish law, Farplas consulted a Turkish data protection lawyer who advised on anonymization procedures and recommended that data not be transferred outside of Türkiye. Consequently, the data is stored on virtual machines located within Türkiye.
