We believe that it’s imperative to follow design thinking principles in the automotive sector to drive customer-centric, technologically feasible, and financially viable innovations. Thus, we usually begin our projects at the concept design phase and develop the product in close collaboration with our customers.

Depending on the customer’s location, we have an extensive network of internal and external resources to manage this challenging engineering task. We have permanent teams located in China, Korea, Thailand, Romania, and Turkiye. Furthermore, thanks to our talented, agile, and flexible teams, we can provide resident engineering services wherever the project is, as in previous cases in Germany, Italy, UK, and the US. Finally, we can draw on our vast network of technology partners for additional support when needed.

Besides the project-specific developments, we collaborate heavily with our OEM customers and technology partners during the research stage. We have several joint R&D programs with our customers to research and develop more effective, competitive, and environmentally friendly solutions. Hot topics related to these programs include circular economy, lightweight materials, composite bonding solutions, and biomaterials.

Polymer being the main material we process at Farplas, we have a highly experienced and skilled team working on polymer science. We use this know-how to improve understanding, ensure more reliable production, use the most feasible solutions in the market, and most importantly, develop our own materials where the market cannot keep up with our needs. We have already developed our own Polyamide compound material called FARAMID®, and more R&D is in progress.

Farplas has been an OEM design and development partner for over 50 years. In the last 20 years, our development activities have focused on the passenger vehicle segment; therefore, we have deployed more on-site development teams backed up with CAE, simulation, and structural analyses from the central engineering teams at our headquarters.

We have a smart development process for top performance tools that utilizes the latest tooling technologies, mold flow simulation-guided design, and an industrialization process monitored closely on-site. In addition, we believe having an internal tool shop is crucial to have complete control over the tool development process; therefore, we have two tool shops in Fark Holding. This capability allows us to build 20% of the most critical tools in-house and train all of our teams to ensure 100% control over the tools outsourced worldwide.

Serving a wide range of products and customers, Farplas has developed skills covering almost all injection-related technologies. Our injection technologies include standard injection up to 3000t, 2k injection, fabric back injection, metal insert molding, in-mold decoration, physical foaming, chemical foaming, gas injection, FiberForm, and compression molding.

COATING TECHNOLOGIES

COATING TECHNOLOGIES

Farplas is a preferred supplier for aesthetical solutions, and painting is one of the major technologies we use. We have nine paint shops in Fark Holding, of which five are in Farplas. We cover almost all painting solutions such as body painting, pearly painting, high gloss painting, soft-touch painting, chrome painting. We use flaming, CO2 cleaning, electrostatic painting, and azote gas in our fully robotic lines to ensure process stability and quality assurance. Besides painting, we also have other in-house coating solutions such as hot folio stamping, pad printing, vacuum metallization, and outsourced solutions such as PVD and chroming.

Complex products require complex solutions. It is impossible to finalize the complete product in 1 process in many cases due to limitations in tooling and injection technologies. In such cases, two or more products need to be bonded. Farplas has advanced knowledge and expertise to identify the technically and commercially most feasible bonding solution. Our solutions include cure-on-demand, PUR adhesive bonding, vibration welding, US welding, hot plate welding, infrared welding, hot air / hot pin / hot melt welding, and laser welding. We also have ongoing R&D projects to bond metal to plastics with our own unique method, creating excellent design freedom benefits.

In addition to our injection and paint technologies, we offer a wide range of other processes to support our complete product scope. We use polyurethane, thermoforming, slush molding, and wrapping technologies for soft trims. Laser etching and laser engraving are also technologies used in our products.

As a supplier of cockpit and body-color painted exterior closures, Farplas has advanced assembly systems ensuring product quality, just-in-time, and just-in-sequence delivery. Our product requirements reach the highest level of safety with airbag applications where we use laser, milling, and cold knife scoring technologies.

We use complete robotic cells, camera control systems, and various other control equipment to ensure in-process quality. We also use ASRS systems to manage the just-in-sequence requirements of our customers.

Farplas is a forward-looking company continuously investing in new technologies and smart infrastructure, not only with physical equipment, but also with software. We are a model company for SAP4 Hana with complete integration of all modules. Digitalization and on-time precise control over plant data are further strengthened with Enovia MatrixOne PLM system over product life cycle data and RPA (Robotic Process Automation) for repeating assignments. Furthermore, we have a dedicated data analytics team working on AI (Artificial Intelligence) and IP (Image Processing) solutions for our data architecture.
